Your Ounce Of Prevention: 

1. Replace HVAC filter

2. Check heating elements and systems to ensure they’re operating correctly. While we don’t have intense winters, there can still be chilly nights

3. Schedule any servicing for heat pumps or other heating systems, if not already done in October

4. Adjust ceiling fans to rotate clockwise to redistribute warm air that rises to the ceiling, an helping to heat rooms more effectively

5. Reinspect the roof for any damage or leaks and ensure gutters are free of debris , especially after the fall season

6. Clear out any leaves, or other debris that may have accumulated

7. Fertilize the lawn with a winter formula to promote root growth

8. Address insects or fungus issues that may damage the grass during the cooler months

9. Install weatherstripping on doors and windows or use draft stoppers to keep the cooler air out and the warm air in

10. Check for any cracks in window panes and repair them to improve insulation
