1. Check high-humidity areas for signs of mold and mildew and address these areas immediately

2. Use dehumidifiers and ensure proper ventilation in high-humidity areas

3. Check electrical outlets, switches, and wiring for signs of damage or wear and repair as needed

4. Make sure your outdoor electrical outlets are covered to prevent water intrusion during rain

5. Text your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries if needed

6. Keep fire extinguishers accessible and in good working condition

7. Make sure your garage doors and their safety features are functioning properly

8. Secure heavy items that could shift or fall during a storm

9. Check your insurance policy to ensure adequate coverage for storm, flood, and other potential damages

10. Understand your policy terms, including deductibles and coverage limits
